This comprehensive course provides learners with the essential skills and knowledge required to deliver effective first aid in public settings and workplaces. Covering a wide range of critical topics, the training ensures participants are fully prepared to manage various emergency situations confidently.
Understanding the Role of a First Aider
Participants will learn the responsibilities of a first aider, including infection prevention, incident recording, and stress management following an incident.
Assessing Emergency Situations
Learners will develop the skills to conduct scene and casualty assessments, evaluate risks, and prioritise actions during emergencies.
Responding to Unresponsive Casualties
The course teaches essential techniques such as administering CPR and using Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Participants will also learn how to place casualties in the recovery position and monitor their condition effectively.
Managing Choking Incidents
The training includes recognising choking signs and applying appropriate first aid techniques, including back blows and abdominal thrusts.
Handling External Bleeding and Shock
Participants will assess the severity of bleeding and apply first aid techniques for both life-threatening and minor cases. The course also covers recognising and treating shock, including hypovolaemic shock.
Dealing with Minor Injuries
Learners will gain the skills to treat small wounds, bruises, splinters, nosebleeds, and minor burns or scalds.
The course includes hands-on demonstrations and exercises, such as practicing CPR on a manikin, ensuring learners can confidently apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. By the end of the course, participants will feel equipped to provide effective first aid, making them valuable assets in any setting.
Upon completion, participants will receive a Skills Training Group CPR & AED Certificate. For workplace-specific certification, learners must complete the Emergency First Aid at Work Course.
