Paediatric First Aid Course

2-Day Level 3 Ofsted-Approved Paediatric First Aid Course, accredited by Qualsafe Awards and meeting EYFS requirements. Delivered at our Nottingham centre or on-site, this course equips childcare professionals with essential skills to handle paediatric emergencies confidently and meet regulations.

This Paediatric First Aid Course is specifically designed to meet the requirements of the Department for Education’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. It’s ideal for:

  • Childcare Professionals: Perfect for those with Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualifications working in early years settings, helping meet EYFS staff-to-child ratios.
  • Registered Childminders and Assistants: Required by EYFS to hold a valid paediatric first aid certificate.
  • Parents and Guardians: Ideal for parents, grandparents, or carers looking to gain essential paediatric first aid skills to support infants and children.

Important Note: Newly qualified childcare professionals (after 30 June 2016) with Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications must obtain a full or emergency paediatric first aid certificate within three months of starting work.

Entry Requirements

Participants must be at least 14 years old and capable of performing practical tasks, including floor-level activities.

Course Content

This comprehensive course covers a wide range of paediatric emergencies, including:

  • Roles and responsibilities of paediatric first aiders
  • Infant and child CPR with AED use
  • Managing choking incidents
  • Treating wounds, bleeding, and shock
  • Dealing with unconscious casualties
  • Managing fractures, spinal and head injuries
  • Recognising and responding to anaphylaxis
  • Burns, scalds, and catastrophic bleeding
  • High temperatures, febrile seizures, and poisoning
  • Treating bites and stings

Certification and Validity

Upon successfully completing the course, participants will receive a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, valid for three years.
